Spain, Costa del Sol
This course offers a variety of natural scenery from the plateau area (holes 1 to 5, 17 and 18) where the course is similar to a heathland, with wide fairways and outstanding views of the Mediterranean, to the valley area, where the holes meander along the valley and incorporate several water hazards.
The Hotel Encinar de Sotogrande is set in a privileged location near the beaches of the Costa del Sol, and some of the best golf courses in Spain such as Valderrama, home of the 1997 Ryder Cup, which is just 10 minutes away by car.
The SO Sotogrande is an excellent 5 star resort with bungalow-style rooms with their own terrace, overlooking the hotel gardens, golf course and the coast.
The popular Guadalmina Spa & Golf Resort in Marbella offers direct access to its own golf course and San Pedro Beach, as well as a choice of eight other golf courses in the surrounding area within easy reach.
The 4-star Gran Hotel is an excellent beachfront hotel in Mijas Costa. Ideally located for playing golf to the East of Marbella including La Cala and Santana.
With 5 Tees per hole, Valle Romano is an enjoyable course for beginners whilst still proving a challenge for more skilled golfers.
The newer of the two courses at Mijas Golf, Los Olivos Course has undergone extensive regeneration in recent years to bring the course up to USGA requirements.
The flatter of the two courses that make up the Guadalmina Resort, the South Course enjoys much wider fairways than the North.
Host of the 1977 Spanish Open, Torrequebrada is a strategic golf course with many doglegs requiring thought rather than simply gripping it and ripping it.
